Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed the complete protection and effective utilization of the properties owned by Nepal Children’s Organization (Balmandir) across the country.
During a discussion with the officials of the organization at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need for stringent measures if necessary to safeguard all the lands, buildings, and assets associated with the organization.
In the meeting, which included newly appointed Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal and Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Phanindra Gautam, Prime Minister Oli stated, “If any of the Balmandir’s lands have been encroached upon or if properties are being used without a proper lease agreement, immediate and decisive action should be taken to reclaim and properly utilize them. Even if the organization has owned lands without ownership documentation for a long time, those lands should be registered under the organization’s name.”
Prime Minister Oli also instructed that a proposal for the approval of the organization’s new statute be submitted to the Cabinet. He urged ensuring balanced nutrition, appropriate clothing, and affectionate care for the children under the organization’s care, as well as guaranteeing access to quality education.
“The children in the care of the Nepal Children’s Organization should receive the same level of facilities as those from well-off families. They should be healthy, receive proper education, and be loved. The government will provide all possible support to ensure this,” Prime Minister Oli asserted.
Bidya Neupane, Chairperson of the organization, requested the government’s assistance in approving a revised and official statute with a clear identity of the organization, allocating a budget, protecting the properties, and facilitating the acquisition of birth registration and citizenship for the children who face difficulties in these processes. Currently, approximately 300 children are under the care of the organization.
