Prince Edward of the United Kingdom is set to commence his first international tour of 2025 with a visit to Nepal. Accompanied by his wife, Sophie, the royal couple is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on February 4, 2025 (Magh 22), for a family visit.
The official website of the British Royal Family confirms their upcoming Nepal visit, though detailed itineraries of the trip have not yet been disclosed.
The visit marks the beginning of their tour of Asian countries, with Nepal being the first destination. This visit follows Prince Edward and Sophie’s trip to Malta in October 2024.
The British Royal Family shares a long-standing relationship with Nepal. In 2015, Prince Harry visited Nepal, exploring areas like Bardiya, Lamjung, and Pokhara. Historically, the ties between the two nations date back to 1852, when then-Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana initiated diplomatic exchanges.
Queen Elizabeth II visited Nepal twice, in 1961 and 1986. Other notable royal visits include those by Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Prince Philip.
Prince Edward, the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, is currently 14th in line to the British throne. His upcoming visit underscores the enduring diplomatic and cultural connection between Nepal and the United Kingdom.
The royal couple’s visit is expected to further strengthen the historical ties and promote mutual understanding between the two nations.
