Bandipur Rural Municipality-5, home to the historic Chandrakot Gadhi, is set to transform the site into a significant tourist destination. Efforts are being made to promote the area in connection with the Visit Nepal 2025 campaign and to establish a “Route Link” to enhance accessibility. Plans also include installing outdoor gym equipment in Dumre, Chisopani, and Bandipur. These decisions were finalized during the seventh executive meeting of the rural municipality held at Chandrakot Gadhi.
Shiva Kumar Shrestha, the spokesperson for the rural municipality and Ward No. 1 Chairperson, shared that Chandrakot is accessible by vehicle from Bandipur Bazaar through Bahunbhanjyang to Khanigaun, followed by a 20-minute walk. Visitors can also reach Chandrakot Gadhi via Yampa in Ward No. 5 along the Prithvi Highway, proceeding through Thumka Korikha and Bahunbhanjyang. Increasingly, Chandrakot has become a favorite destination for domestic tourists, adding to its importance.
According to Chairperson Surendra Bahadur Thapa, Chandrakot holds historical and research value, prompting local authorities to focus on its preservation and promotion. A dedicated executive meeting was organized to outline plans for its development as a tourist hub.
The meeting also reviewed the internal audit report for the fiscal year 2080/81, which was handed over to Rural Municipality Chairperson Thapa and Chief Administrative Officer Yadav Raj Acharya by Internal Auditor Shree Ram Poudel. Previously, a similar meeting was held at Siddha Cave to highlight another tourist destination in the municipality.
In other developments, the “One House, One Tap” initiative has successfully installed drinking water taps in 30 households in Huslang Majthar, Bandipur-6. This project, executed by the Majthar Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumer Committee, was completed at a cost of NPR 1 million.
Chairperson Thapa emphasized that the initiative has significantly improved the daily lives of locals by providing access to clean water. He further assured that efforts are ongoing to ensure drinking water availability in every household across Bandipur during his tenure.
These measures, combining tourism promotion and essential services, underscore Bandipur’s commitment to holistic community development and enhanced visitor experiences.
