A rescue team is preparing to retrieve the bodies of five climbers who died while attempting to summit Dhaulagiri. According to the Myagdi police, adverse weather conditions have hindered efforts to recover the bodies for the past week.
Bharat Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Myagdi, reported that attempts to airlift the bodies have been unsuccessful due to persistent fog and low visibility over the past three days. “We will continue our efforts as soon as the weather permits,” he stated.
The location of the incident poses significant challenges for recovery. Discussions are ongoing about sending a team of Sherpas to the site to facilitate the retrieval of the bodies via helicopter from the base camp.
