A female one-horned rhino has been found dead in Chitwan. The incident occurred in the Bhagedi area of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Ward No. 26. The 20-year-old rhino was discovered in a maize field belonging to a resident.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. A team of experts from Chitwan National Park has arrived at the scene to begin an investigation.
This is the first reported rhino death of the current fiscal year. In the previous fiscal year, 21 rhinos were recorded dead in Chitwan, with 18 succumbing to natural causes and two to poaching. The cause of death for one rhino from that period remains undetermined.
