The Armed Police Force of Nepal has issued a safety advisory for travelers using the trekking route in the Samdo area of Gorkha, specifically in the Chumanubri-1 Samdo region. The area has experienced heavy snowfall, with snow accumulation reaching up to 3 feet, which has made travel on this route hazardous. The Armed Police Force is urging tourists to exercise extreme caution while navigating this path.

In response to the ongoing heavy snowfall, the Border Outpost (BOP) in Samdo has been working continuously to clear the snow and reopen the route. Due to the snowfall, several roads have been blocked, making it more challenging for trekkers and locals to move freely in the region.

Furthermore, the Armed Police Force has established several BOPs along the northern trekking routes to ensure safety and provide quick assistance if needed. Currently, there are 10 operational BOPs in the northern regions, with plans to establish more posts in the future. The goal is to set up a new BOP every 10 kilometers to enhance security and facilitate effective rescue operations in case of emergencies.

The BOPs are specifically focusing on disaster management and rescue operations, prioritizing the safety of travelers and locals in the area. In case of any problems or emergencies, the Armed Police Force has requested travelers to contact their helpline at 1114 for immediate assistance.

This initiative is part of the broader plan to improve safety measures along trekking routes, especially in high-altitude and remote regions of Nepal, to ensure that trekkers can explore these areas safely despite the challenges posed by the harsh weather conditions.
