Seven Injured in Tanahun Bus Accident Discharged from Hospital, Nine Still Under Treatment

Seven of the 16 individuals injured in a bus accident on the Marsyangdi River in Aanbukhaireni, Tanahun, have been discharged today from Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu. The accident, which occurred on Friday morning, involved an Indian bus (license plate UP 53 FT 7623) carrying tourists from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The bus met with an accident at Aina Pahra in Aanbukhaireni.

Dr. Rohit Singh of the hospital informed the National News Agency (RSS), “We have discharged seven of the 16 patients who were admitted following the bus accident. The remaining nine are still receiving treatment at the hospital, and all are showing signs of improvement.”

The patients discharged today include 56-year-old Bharati Patil, 42-year-old Varsha Bhangan, 70-year-old Kumudini Jhamre, 49-year-old Rupali Sarode, 59-year-old Hemraj Sarode, 45-year-old Nilima Bhirud, and 65-year-old Sunil Dhande.

Among the nine still receiving treatment, four are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The patients still in the hospital are identified as 51-year-old Pravin Patil, 53-year-old Avinash Patil, 59-year-old Anant Inge, 47-year-old Seema Inge, 58-year-old Asha Bonde, 62-year-old Naineshwar Bonde, 50-year-old Sharda Patil, 47-year-old Rekha Surawade, and 58-year-old Asha Patil.

Dr. Singh noted, “Most of the injured have sustained deep injuries to their hands, feet, foreheads, heads, chests, and backs. However, their condition is improving.”

Anant Inge, one of the injured still receiving treatment, expressed gratitude for the care they received. “Our health is improving. We received timely and proper treatment, which saved our lives. We are thankful to everyone.”

The accident claimed the lives of 27 Indian tourists. Their bodies were sent back to India after post-mortem examinations via an Indian Air Force aircraft. The injured were airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment by a Nepal Army helicopter. The group of Indian tourists was en route to Kathmandu on August 20th to visit the Pashupatinath Temple when the accident occurred.
