Shree Airlines has received official approval to operate international flights, marking a significant milestone in its expansion into South Asian routes. The airline is now preparing to launch regular services to New Delhi and Kolkata in India.
Civil Aviation Authority Grants International License
The approval has been granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, allowing Shree Airlines to operate scheduled international flights. According to airline spokesperson Anil Manandhar, the carrier had previously been permitted to operate only chartered international flights, but now holds authorization for regular scheduled services as well.

Test Flight to Kolkata Successfully Completed
The airline successfully conducted a test flight to Kolkata in the final week of Chaitra, which was reported as operationally successful. Following this, preparations for regular commercial operations have been accelerated. Shree Airlines stated that it plans to begin scheduled international services within three months of receiving clearance from Indian aviation authorities.
Daily Flights Planned to New Delhi
Market Management Chief Anil Manandhar said the airline is preparing to operate daily flights to New Delhi once it receives final approval. The service will position Shree Airlines as a budget carrier on the Nepal–India route, targeting increased passenger demand between the two countries. The airline aims to strengthen connectivity and provide affordable travel options for passengers flying between Kathmandu and major Indian cities.

Fleet and Operational Strategy
Shree Airlines plans to operate its international services using the 80-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. The airline believes the aircraft is well-suited for short-haul international routes due to its efficiency and capacity. The company is positioning itself as a competitive regional airline focusing on cost-effective operations while expanding its international footprint.
Expansion in South Asia and IPO Plans
With the receipt of its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for international operations, Shree Airlines is set to expand its presence in the South Asian aviation market. The airline sees India as a key growth destination due to strong passenger demand and geographic proximity.
Alongside its international expansion, the company is also preparing to issue an Initial Public Offering (IPO) at a premium price of Rs. 200 per share, signaling its long-term growth strategy and investor confidence.

Strengthening Nepal–India Air Connectivity
The planned services to New Delhi and Kolkata are expected to further enhance air connectivity between Nepal and India, two countries with strong tourism, business, and cultural ties.
Industry observers believe the entry of Shree Airlines into scheduled international operations will increase competition, potentially improving service quality and fare options for passengers traveling on key South Asian routes.
