Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur has reopened its jungle safari for the incoming Dashain and Tihar holidays, allowing tourists to experience the grassland terrain and get close to wildlife. The national park reopened its safari circuit on Tuesday to meet the rising domestic demand for the festive holiday. While monsoon rains have hindered the reopening of other routes, the national park has enabled its main circuit to welcome wildlife tourists.
Main Safari Circuit ReOpened For Festival Visitors
According to Purushottam Wagle, information officer, Shuklaphanta National Park, the main safari route linking Majhgaun-Babatal-Ranital-Phanta grassland has been reopened for the incoming festival. The route allows the visitors to experience the vast grassland of the Shuklaphanta National Park and view the wildlife in their natural habitat.

The National Park authorities have prioritized the main circuit for the visitors who want to enjoy their holiday in the national park. The national park has enabled this route despite the ongoing adverse weather condition that has impacted the reopening of other safari circuits.
“The other internal safari routes can be reopened in the national park within a week if the weather allows,” said Purushottam Wagle. The gradual reopening of the safari routes will allow more tourists to experience the wilderness of the Shuklaphanta National Park. However, the visitors must consider the weather condition and other factors before exploring the national park.

Shuklaphanta’s Grassland And Wildlife Attract Tourists
Shuklaphanta National Park covers 305 square kilometers and is famed for its vast grassland ecosystem and diverse wildlife species. According to the information provided by Shuklaphanta National Park, the protected area is home to about 2300 barasingha and 50 tigers. The national park’s large tract of grassland supports thriving populations of wildlife, including huge herds of barasingha deer. This natural wonder is one of the prime attractions of the Shuklaphanta National Park that draws wildlife tourists from far and near. The national park boasts a wide range of flora and fauna found nowhere else in Nepal. Its vast grassland and rich wildlife species make it a popular tourist destination in the national park.
Shuklaphanta National Park provides an entirely different tourist experience from the other trekking and hill station tourist spots in Nepal. The reopening of the main safari circuit will enable more visitors to explore the natural beauty of the Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur. Shuklaphanta National Park authorities have been managing and conserving the 20 hectare grassland in the Phanta area.

Safari ReOpening Enables More Festival Visitors To Experience Nature’s Beauty
The reopening of the main safari circuit of the Shuklaphanta National Park has come at a crucial time when the domestic tourist traffic is surging in Nepal for the festive season. The national park is well positioned to welcome more visitors who are interested in wildlife tourism and want to spend their Dashain Tihar holidays in Nepal. The domestic tourism demand is growing as Nepalese tourists are always eager to explore new destinations during the holiday.
However, the National Park’s other internal safari circuits remain closed due to the ongoing monsoon rains. The tourist visiting the Shuklaphanta National Park must check with the authorities regarding the safari route availability before planning their trip to the national park. More safari circuits will open once the weather permits. Shuklaphanta National Park will benefit tremendously from the reopening of its safari circuits as the park’s diverse wildlife and grassland offer a unique tourism experience to the visitors.
