The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has formed a six-member study committee, led by a joint secretary, to conduct a detailed assessment of the Pashupati Dharmashala. The committee was created to evaluate the status and functioning of the Dharmashala, which is located near the Pashupatinath Temple.
According to a press release issued by the ministry today, the committee is chaired by the Joint Secretary and Head of the Culture Division of the ministry. The other members include the Executive Director of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, Undersecretaries from the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Department of Archaeology, and the Culture Division of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
The committee has been tasked with studying Dharmashala’s establishment, financial records, audit status, assets, liabilities, structures, and the nature and quality of services provided. Additionally, it will examine the implementation status of various court orders, reports from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Public Accounts Committee, Auditor General, and previous committees formed on this matter.
Furthermore, the committee is responsible for investigating the land ownership issues surrounding the Dharmashala and submitting a comprehensive report to the Minister of Tourism within 30 days.
