A Sri Lankan Air Force helicopter crashed into the Maduru Oya Reservoir in the country’s North Central Province on Friday, resulting in the death of six military personnel.
Air Force spokesperson Eranda Giyannage stated that there were 12 people on board, including two pilots, and six of them died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The remaining six injured are still receiving medical care.
Earlier, Giyannage had reported that all 12 individuals were safe and had been sent to the hospital for treatment. The crash occurred during an aerial display held as part of a welcome ceremony for new Air Force graduates.
