Stone Park in Jiri: A New Tourist and Research Hub

Jiri, a once simple travel destination, has transformed into a key site for both tourism and research. Among its attractions, Stone Park has emerged as a must-visit location, drawing visitors who often find themselves returning multiple times.

Located 80 kilometers from Charikot, the district headquarters, and just 25 kilometers from Jiri, Stone Park is easily accessible for day trips. The park, designed with children, youth, and religious visitors in mind, features statues of Shiva and Guru Rinpoche, making it an inclusive destination for people of all faiths.

Recently, a team including Melung Rural Municipality Chairman Hira Kumar Tamang visited the park, noting significant changes and improvements. The lush greenery and serene atmosphere have made it a favorite spot for nature lovers.

Stone Park also serves as a gateway to other nearby attractions such as Panchpokhari and Dhunge Gumba. The area is home to the Shyama Sherpas, who have constructed monasteries in each of their settlements, attracting Buddhist devotees who often explore the park as part of their pilgrimage.

The park, developed by Jiri Municipality, offers a unique experience with facilities like a conference hall, a mini-event hall, and a swimming pool, making it a popular choice for picnics, conferences, and family outings.

Visitors from various regions, including Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Mahottari, Janakpur, and Sarlahi, frequently visit Stone Park. For those planning to stay overnight, Stone Park Riverside Homestay provides comfortable accommodations, offering organic meals and snacks prepared by the homestay operator, Surya Bahadur Basnet.
