In a high mark for Nepal tourism, a well-respected figure in the Nepal tourism sector Suman Bikram Pandey has been elected as Vice President of Finance of PATA International Headquarters. He was elected when his opponent, Gerald Perez of Guam, withdrew from the March balloting. Pandey’s unopposed elevation to the position was announced at PATA’s General Assembly on 7 June.
Boasting over 35 years of experience across all sectors of the tourism industry, Pandey, who has also served as both Secretary and Treasurer, is one of nine members to have been welcomed onto the Executive Board. Till then, Peter Simon from Indonesia will be the President, served by two other members from Thailand and Singapore.
Nepal, a member of PATA since 1975, makes its first claim at the top spot of the organization with the election of Pandey. An identity known to have made significant contribution to the tourism element in Nepal bring new ventures like Sky Diving in 2008, Helicopter Flight and Rescue Service in 2008 and International Himalaya Travel Mart in 2017.
Pandey said he would be working to strengthen the international market expansion and upgrade tourism services in the state while outlining his plans up to 2026. His election signifies Nepal’s growing clout in global tourism and demonstrates our dedication to developing responsible and creative tourism practices worldwide.
