This summer, China has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of international visitors to its tourist destinations, thanks to new visa policies. These changes have significantly boosted the presence of foreign tourists across the country.
To better serve international tourists, Chinese cities, businesses, and scenic spots have introduced various measures, including expanding payment options and implementing no-reservation entry policies.
In the first six months of this year, China welcomed 14.64 million international visitors, marking a 153 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Among these visitors, 8.54 million entered through visa-free arrangements.
For both inbound and outbound travel, approximately 7 million airline tickets are expected to be booked this summer, representing a 93 percent year-on-year increase.
A recent industry report highlights that China’s tourism economy is recovering rapidly from 2023 to 2024. The growth in international tourism is expected to further enhance the global tourism industry, opening up greater possibilities and strengthening the sector worldwide.
