Surge in Tourist Arrivals in Nepal: June Sees Significant Increase

In June, Nepal welcomed a substantial number of tourists, with a total of 76,736 visitors entering the country. This figure marks an increase from the previous year’s June total of 72,216 tourists.

According to data from the Nepal Tourism Board, India remains the top source of tourists, contributing 37,835 visitors. This is followed by the United States with 8,281 tourists, China with 7,494, and Bangladesh with 3,857 visitors. Other significant contributors include the United Kingdom (1,969), Australia (1,589), Bhutan (1,066), Malaysia (1,014), Japan (953), and South Korea (875).

Director of the Nepal Tourism Board, Maniraj Lamichhane, highlighted the top 10 tourist-generating markets for Nepal, listing them in order of arrival numbers: India, the United States, China, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, Australia, Bhutan, Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea.

The statistics also revealed that 77,279 tourists departed Nepal in June, indicating a vibrant movement of international visitors in and out of the country. This surge in tourism is a positive indicator for Nepal’s tourism sector, reflecting the country’s growing appeal as a travel destination amidst a recovering global travel landscape.
