The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), in collaboration with the Trekking Guide Association of Nepal (TGAN), has successfully conducted a specialized training session under the Sustainable Tourism for Livelihood Recovery Project (NTB/UNDP/STLRP). This initiative focused on enhancing personal hygiene, sanitation, and waste management among female trekking guides and porter guides.
The training, held on July 31, 2024, at Hotel Manang in Thamel, Kathmandu, aimed to empower female professionals in the trekking industry with essential skills to promote sustainable tourism practices. Emphasizing the importance of hygiene and effective waste management, the program sought to improve the overall quality of service and environmental impact in the trekking sector.
By addressing key areas of personal hygiene and sanitation, the training supports the broader goals of sustainable tourism, contributing to both the well-being of local guides and the preservation of Nepal’s natural beauty. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the professional capabilities of female trekking guides and fostering a more responsible approach to tourism.
TAAN and TGAN are committed to continuing such training programs, ensuring that all stakeholders in the trekking industry are well-equipped to promote sustainable practices and support livelihood recovery.
