In a remarkable step toward sustainable waste management, Syang Village in Ward No. 3 of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality, Mustang, conducted a waste segregation and collection program on December 7, 2024. The initiative was led by the active participation of the “Syang Aama Samuha” (Syang Mothers’ Group).
During the program, waste materials were systematically classified and securely packed in designated bags, ensuring effective segregation. This initiative highlights the increasing role of community groups in addressing environmental challenges.

Following the cleanup drive, a meeting was held with the Aama Samuha to discuss ways to ensure the sustainable management of waste in the region. The Area Conservation Office, Jomsom, pledged to explore opportunities to support the group in their ongoing environmental efforts.
The discussion underscored the importance of community-led initiatives in promoting environmental sustainability in Mustang, a region known for its pristine natural beauty. The event reflects the growing awareness and commitment among local communities to maintain a clean and eco-friendly environment, aligning with broader conservation goals.
