TAAN Hosts Consultative Meeting on Draft Tourism Policy 2081

On December 4, 2024, the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) organized a discussion and consultative meeting with its Past Presidents and General Secretaries to review and provide feedback on the draft Tourism Policy 2081. The meeting aimed to gather insights from seasoned leaders to refine the policy for the advancement of Nepal’s tourism sector.

The event saw the participation of prominent industry leaders, including J. B Singh, Suman Pandey, Deepak Mahat, Ramesh Dhamala, Navaraj Dahal, Nilhari Bastola, Hari Dharel, and Sarita Lama, who represented TAAN in their capacities as Past Presidents and General Secretaries. The meeting was hosted by TAAN President Sagar Pandey and facilitated by Senior Executive Committee members.

During the meeting, the draft Tourism Policy 2081 was critically examined, with participants offering valuable suggestions focused on the sustainable development, promotion, and management of Nepal’s tourism sector. Particular attention was directed towards trekking and mountain adventure tourism.

Key areas of emphasis included fostering a conducive environment for investment, enhancing sector competitiveness, diversifying tourism products, promoting niche and organic offerings, and developing world-class human resources. Retention of skilled workers and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Nepal’s tourism sector were also highlighted as priorities. The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration and collective effort in shaping a policy that aligns with Nepal’s tourism potential and evolving global trends. TAAN reaffirmed its commitment to playing a proactive role in driving the growth of the industry.
