After a long hiatus, Tara Airlines has resumed flights from Surkhet Airport to three districts in the Karnali region Humla, Mugu, and Jumla starting Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The reintroduction of air services has been met with excitement by local residents and students living in Surkhet.
Himalayan Tours and Travels has been assigned the responsibility for managing the flights, which will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays, connecting Surkhet to Simikot, Jumla, and Rara airports. Surya Mani Subedi, Station Incharge at Tara Airlines, Nepalgunj, confirmed the new flight schedule and service routes.
The flight fares have been set as follows: Surkhet-Simikot at NPR 8,000, Surkhet-Rara at NPR 6,500, and Surkhet-Jumla at NPR 6,500. The resumption of these air services is expected to promote domestic tourism and provide greater connectivity for the people of Karnali.
Min Bahadur Rawal, Managing Director of Himalayan Tours and Travels, emphasized that the commercial flight services from Surkhet are a strategic initiative to promote internal tourism in the region. The move is expected to boost the local economy and offer residents easier access to essential services and tourism destinations in the Karnali region.
