Tarkeshwar’s ‘One Jungle Adventure’ Emerges as a New Hub for Adventure Tourism Near Kathmandu

One jungle adventure emerges new and thrilling destination has emerged just a few kilometers from the bustling Ring Road of Kathmandu. Located in Tarkeshwar Municipality–3, the newly developed ‘One Jungle Adventure’ park is rapidly establishing itself as a leading adventure tourism site in Nepal’s capital region. With the rise in demand for local outdoor recreation, the park has brought world-class adventurous activities within easy reach for urban dwellers.

A New Era for Adventure Tourism Near Kathmandu

With the increasing popularity of adventure tourism, especially among urban youth and nature lovers, One Jungle Adventure offers a much-needed alternative to long-distance travel for those seeking adrenaline-filled activities.

Previously, Kathmandu residents had to travel to Pokhara, Sindhupalchowk, or other remote areas for such experiences. Now, within just 10 kilometers of the Ring Road, they can enjoy ziplining, rock climbing, bungee jumping, and more. Nestled along the Kakani Highway in Paanchmane, the park provides not only adventure but also serene surroundings filled with greenery and fresh air, an ideal escape from city life.

Eight Months of Operation and Growing Footfall

According to Elisha Dhakal, the founder and operator of Van Jungle Adventure, the facility has been welcoming both domestic and foreign visitors for the past eight months. She emphasized that the initiative was launched to bring people closer to nature and to offer an affordable and accessible adventure experience without leaving the Kathmandu Valley. With the concept of offering “adventure in nature,” the destination has been well received by internal tourists, including those residing in and around the Ring Road.

Adventure Activities for All Ages

Van Jungle Adventure spans over 30 ropani (approximately 1.5 hectares) of land and offers an array of exhilarating activities. These include:

  • Zipline
  • Roller Coaster (the first of its kind in Nepal)
  • Climbing Wall
  • Obstacle Course
  • High Rope Course
  • Kids Adventure Course
  • TripTop Adventure
  • Giant Swing

The facility caters to all age groups and is specially designed for families, friends, corporate groups, and school trips. Elisha Dhakal highlighted that the roller coaster experience is a unique attraction where visitors ride a metal structure with wheels, offering a one-minute circular thrill ride like nowhere else in the country.

Promotion of Indigenous Culture and Eco-Tourism

In addition to thrilling sports, the center promotes local culture and traditional Nepali living. Tourists can stay overnight in 11 tents or in a traditional-style Nepali house, complete with cultural artifacts such as dhiki, janto, halo, and tools used by local farmers.

This cultural integration aims to preserve indigenous heritage while offering tourists a unique and authentic experience. Tourists get a chance to immerse themselves in the rural lifestyle, adding depth to their adventure beyond just physical activities.

Insurance and Government Approval for All Activities

Safety is a top priority at Van Jungle Adventure. All adventure activities are approved by the Department of Tourism, and every participant is insured before they take part in the adventure sports. The operator emphasized that proper safety equipment, guidelines, and trained personnel are in place to ensure a secure experience for all visitors.

Elisha Dhakal shared that the entire infrastructure of the project was constructed with professional engineering standards over a period of one year by Indian company Oxo Consultancy. The development of the facility cost approximately Rs. 60 million (6 crore rupees) and was built on Dhakal’s own land.

Weekend Crowd and Economic Prospects

The center experiences its highest visitor traffic on Fridays and Saturdays, mostly from internal tourists. With adventure tourism gaining traction among youths and corporate groups, the footfall is steadily increasing. The introduction of adventure package deals has encouraged groups to visit regularly, helping boost the local economy and providing employment opportunities.

Van Jungle Adventure is already being seen as a model project that combines tourism, recreation, and economic development while ensuring environmental and cultural sustainability.

A Turning Point in Kathmandu’s Adventure Tourism

Van Jungle Adventure offers a fresh perspective on how tourism can be diversified within the urban periphery. It is not just a recreational destination but a transformational space where people can break away from their daily routines and reconnect with nature, challenge their limits, and explore Nepali culture.

The development of such destinations near the capital reflects a shift in tourism preferences. While traditional sightseeing remains popular, adventure tourism is rapidly emerging as a key area for growth, especially among the younger demographic.

With its blend of thrilling activities, cultural richness, and accessible location, Van Jungle Adventure is setting a benchmark for urban-adjacent tourism in Nepal. If its popularity continues to rise, it could inspire similar projects in other municipalities around the country, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic tourism industry.

As Nepal continues to innovate in its tourism offerings, the rise of Van Jungle Adventure near Kathmandu is a prime example of how locally-driven initiatives can make a big impact. It offers more than just adventure, it fosters a connection between nature, culture, and thrill, making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an exciting escape just a short drive from the city.
