Buddha Air has reported a technical issue with one of its mountain flights, specifically with the aircraft registered as ‘9N-AJS’. According to Deependra Kumar Karn, the airline’s information officer, the aircraft was forced to return and safely land after encountering a problem with its right engine.
Currently, a technical team is examining the aircraft to identify the root of the issue. Karn explained, “After a technical problem was detected in the right engine of the mountain flight, we safely landed the aircraft in Kathmandu. As the weather deteriorated and the mountains were not visible, no mountain flights were conducted today.”
A statement from Buddha Air confirmed that the mountain flight numbered 100, operated by the ‘9N-AJS’ aircraft, experienced an indicator issue in the right engine, leading to its safe return to Kathmandu. The airline’s technical team is actively inspecting the aircraft for necessary repairs.
Originally, five mountain flights were scheduled for today, but all flights were subsequently canceled. Buddha Air has assured passengers who purchased tickets that they will be accommodated on another flight to see the mountains.
Due to dense fog in the mountainous region, no mountain flights were conducted today. The current weather conditions show that there is partial influence from western winds across the country, with localized air effects observed in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the hilly regions of the country are experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions, with light to moderate rainfall expected in a few places in Gandaki Province, as well as in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Buddha Air continues to prioritize passenger safety and will keep customers updated regarding rescheduled flights and other operational changes.
