Thai Air Asia Resumes Flights at Tribhuvan International Airport

Thai Air Asia has officially resumed its operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. The airline also initiated commercial flights from the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa starting Sunday.

As the fourth airline to operate commercial flights at GBIA, which is Nepal’s second international airport, Thai Air Asia’s return marks a significant step in enhancing connectivity in the region. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had previously taken action against the airline after one of its planes arrived in Kathmandu on October 27 without the necessary flight permit. In response, CAAN granted permission for the airline to operate at TIA, contingent upon flights being conducted from GBIA in Bhairahawa.

Following this resolution, Thai Air Asia successfully operated flights to both TIA and GBIA on Sunday. According to Jagannath Niraula, General Manager at TIA, the airline will maintain a regular flight schedule, operating at TIA every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while also offering flights from GBIA every Monday and Thursday.

This development is expected to improve travel options for passengers and stimulate tourism between Thailand and Nepal.
