Thamel, the prime tourist destination in the federal capital, is set to be developed as ‘Digital Thamel’. This initiative was announced during the ‘candidate introduction’ program of Bhabishwor Sharma’s group, held in anticipation of the Thamel Tourism Development Council’s elections on July 15.
Speaking at the event, Sharma, a candidate for the position of president, expressed his commitment to advancing Thamel digitally if elected. “While we have addressed many local issues in collaboration with the local government, we haven’t yet connected Thamel’s global reputation with technological advancements. Hence, we prioritize making Thamel digital,” Sharma stated.
He further elaborated on his plans to collect comprehensive data on all businesses and property owners in Thamel through the Tourism Development Council’s website. This initiative aims to provide domestic and international tourists with easy access to necessary information. Sharma also emphasized declaring Thamel a special tourist zone, enhancing safety and security, managing traffic and waste, improving electrical wiring and street lighting, and fostering harmonious relations between landlords and business owners.
Another presidential candidate, Dhruba Adhikari, emphasized his intention to complete the positive plans initiated by the previous committee. He highlighted the importance of cooperation between landlords and business owners in creating an organized Thamel. Adhikari’s vision for Thamel includes making it clean, beautiful, and safe.
