The Thamel Tourism Development Council has formed a new advisory committee consisting of three members, which is a noteworthy advancement for the tourism industry in Thamel. This declaration was made on Wednesday at an official ceremony. Dr. Ramsharan Thapaliya, the former chairman, is leading the newly formed committee as the Chief Advisor. Advisors include former vice chairperson Geeta Gurung and Kamal Bhandari.
At a council meeting on Shrawan 7, the advisory committee’s nomination was officially confirmed. The council acknowledged Dr. Thapaliya’s significant contributions to the Thamel area and emphasized his critical role in the area’s transformation into one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations.

Gurung and Bhandari were also commended for their continued contributions to the growth of the travel industry. Dhruba Adhikari, the Council President, elaborated on the appointments, referencing Article 16 of the Council’s Charter, including the fifth amendment of 2072 BS, which supports these new roles.
The ceremony also paid tribute to Rajiv Gurung (Deepak Manange), a former Minister and Gandaki Province Assembly member, for his remarkable achievements in promoting and developing Thamel and Nepal’s tourism industry.
