A thousand saplings have been planted in the Swyambhu area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The plantation event, held on Wednesday, was organized by the Swyambhu Management and Conservation Committee, featuring 12 species of saplings, including pine and champ trees.
The tree plantation program was conducted in coordination with the District Forest Division Office, Yamaha B Farm, and Yokohama City University of Japan. The event saw active participation from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and committee officials and staff.
Ishwor Man Dangol, the ward chairperson of Kathmandu-15, emphasized the importance of tree plantation in controlling soil erosion and maintaining greenery in the Swyambhu area.
Ashok Buddha Acharya, the committee’s secretary-general, announced the completion of the Swyambhu Stupa’s renovation, costing NPR 5 million. He also outlined plans to organize traditional fairs and festivals in a more structured manner in the future.
