The three-day Ganesh Festival organized by the Shree Ganesh Youth Committee in Kathmandu is concluding today with special prayers and worship dedicated to Lord Ganesh. This annual festival celebrated on the occasion of Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi, is observed as Ganesh Chaturthi by followers of the Vedic Sanatan Hindu tradition.
Mukesh Sah, president of the organizing committee, mentioned that the festival began on Saturday with the installation of Ganesh idols at Battisputali. Over the past three days, devotees have gathered in large numbers to offer prayers, many bringing “laddus” (modak), as it is believed that offering them to Lord Ganesh fulfills personal wishes.
The festival saw a significant turnout of devotees, who worshipped Lord Ganesh to seek success and prosperity before starting any new endeavors. Traditional Hindu belief holds that worshipping Lord Ganesh removes obstacles, and throughout the festival, devotees participated in rituals, fasting, and dancing.
In accordance with Vedic tradition, the idols of Lord Ganesh will be immersed in the Bagmati River near Gaurighat this evening, marking the festival’s conclusion. Sah added that devotees are preparing to hold a grand procession for the idol immersion ceremony.
