Three engineers from Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) have been suspended for neglecting the maintenance of narrow-body aircraft, as well as for using spare parts against the manufacturer’s recommendations. The suspension was issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
Gyanendra Bhul, the CAAN’s information officer, confirmed that the engineers are suspended until further notice. The decision follows an inspection conducted by CAAN last Tuesday after receiving reports of serious maintenance flaws in the NAC’s narrow-body aircraft.
During the inspection, it was discovered that parts from a different manufacturer were used during the repair process. As a result, the aircraft was grounded on Wednesday. It was subsequently repaired and underwent a successful handling flight under the supervision of CAAN engineers on Thursday. Following this, the narrow-body aircraft has resumed regular operations.
