Tilicho Lake Trek Becomes More Accessible with Trail Improvements

The trekking route to Tilicho Lake, situated at an altitude of 4,919 meters, one of the highest lakes in the world, is becoming increasingly accessible. The Jomsom-Tilicho trail, which passes through Mustang’s Ghami Gaupalika-4, is undergoing significant improvements, making the trek easier for adventurers.

The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Jomsom has been actively working on upgrading the trail from Jomsom to Tilicho via Thini, Namkhuleng, and Mesokondopas. With regular improvements, including the installation of tourism signposts, the trail has become more tourist-friendly.

According to Pramod Raj Regmi, head of ACAP Mustang, efforts have been focused on maintaining and upgrading various tourist trekking routes within the Annapurna Conservation Area. These efforts include trail repairs, installation of informative signboards, altitude and location markers, and notices about high-altitude areas. Key features of the Tilicho trail, such as its biodiversity, study areas, and potential landslide risks, are highlighted to ensure safety and awareness for trekkers.

Additionally, ACAP has implemented waste management practices and continues to monitor the trek’s environmental impact, ensuring that the region remains sustainable and accessible for tourists. As a result, the Jomsom-Tilicho trek is evolving into a safer, more enjoyable journey for trekkers, offering a well-maintained path to one of the world’s most breathtaking high-altitude lakes.
