Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism capital, is set to host a significant conference featuring the participation of the Federal Minister for Tourism and tourism ministers from all seven provinces. The conference aims to promote tourism in Pokhara and is expected to be scheduled soon, according to Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey.
Chief Minister Pandey shared this information during the inauguration of the 29th Annual General Meeting and 13th Convention of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Gandaki. He emphasized that the development of the tourism sector remains a top priority for the government.
Pandey noted that the government is committed to addressing legal and other issues related to tourism through coordination with tourism associations and organizations. He argued that the declaration of Pokhara as a tourism capital has helped brand the city, contributing to the overall development of Gandaki Province.
The government is also focusing on developing sports tourism alongside religious tourism. Pandey revealed plans to construct high-altitude sports facilities in Manang and Mustang.
Gandaki Province Assembly Member Prakash Baral highlighted the need to develop tourism as an industry. Kumar Mani Thapaliya, Central Chairman of NATTA, underscored the significant contribution of Gandaki Province to Nepal’s tourism industry. He stressed the need to enhance infrastructure to extend tourists’ stays and increase activities.
NATTA Gandaki Province President Hari Ram Adhikari affirmed that NATTA is actively working on promoting tourism both domestically and internationally. Pokhara Tourism Council President Pom Narayan Shrestha emphasized that Nepal’s prosperity is closely tied to its tourism sector.
