In preparation for the upcoming Bada Dashain festival, the Tourism Department and the Nepal Tourism Board have announced their commitment to maintaining essential services for tourists. Both organizations emphasized the importance of providing continuous support during this significant period.
According to Mani Raj Lamichhane, a director at the Nepal Tourism Board, the offices will operate half-day hours on all days except for the public holiday designated for the Tika ceremony on Vijaya Dashami. The Tourist Information Management System (TIMS) support center and the Tourist Information Center will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Rakesh Gurung, the director of the Tourism Department, confirmed that essential services, including mountaineering permits, will continue to be processed. He highlighted that as the climbing season for 2024’s autumn approaches, the department will facilitate permit issuance, briefings, and debriefings during the busy trekking season, including the Dashain festivities. It has been assured that departmental operations will remain uninterrupted even on public holidays.
With significant festivals like Dashain coinciding with the peak tourist season, the Board noted an increase in tourist activity at popular destinations across the country. This heightened interest reflects the vibrant cultural atmosphere and scenic beauty that Nepal has to offer during this festive period.
