Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has pledged to reinvigorate the tourism sector through necessary policy reforms. Speaking at a welcome program organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, Minister Pandey emphasized the ministry’s readiness to undertake both policy and structural changes for the development of the tourism sector.
During the event, Minister Pandey highlighted the immense potential for tourism in Nepal and the unique natural resources that could be leveraged to enhance the country’s economic prosperity. He stressed the importance of utilizing these opportunities to increase tourism’s contribution to the national economy.
Minister Pandey also underscored the need for short-term, mid-term, and long-term strategies to further energize the tourism sector. He instructed the effective implementation of public-private partnership initiatives to ensure the sector’s dynamism.
The welcome program saw the presence of key officials, including Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Board Chairman Dr. Ganesh Prasad Pandey, Board Vice Chairman Kamal Sapkota, Acting Executive Chief Hikmat Singh Aire, and other board members. Acting Executive Chief Aire provided an overview of the Board’s activities and pointed out that certain policy issues have hindered the organization of programs abroad. He requested Minister Pandey to facilitate policy and procedural easing to enhance the effectiveness of international programs.
