Tourist Influx in Parbat During Dashain Holiday Boosted by Infrastructure Development

With the development of tourism infrastructure, various tourist destinations in Parbat have seen a surge in both domestic and international visitors during the Dashain holiday. Alongside celebrating Dashain, many tourists are taking advantage of the vacation to explore the region, resulting in an increase in tourist numbers.

Kusma, the district headquarters, has emerged as a popular destination for observation tours by various organizations. The area is attracting a large number of domestic tourists due to attractions such as bungee jumping, the Superman-style zipline, and the country’s tallest and longest suspension bridge.

As the winter season begins, Kusma is now seeing more than 1,000 domestic tourists arriving daily. Slowly, international tourists have also started visiting Kusma’s tourist spots, according to local hotel operator Suresh KC. The influx of tourists has led to full occupancy in Kusma’s hotels.

More modern and well-equipped hotels have opened in Kusma. Tourism entrepreneur Krishna Prasad Shrestha noted that the rise in foot traffic at Kusma is partly due to both domestic and international tourists visiting Mustang. Many of these visitors choose to stay in Kusma either on their way to or from Mustang.

According to Shrestha, educational and observation tours frequently bring visitors from regions such as Chitwan, Biratnagar, Hetauda, Dolakha, Nepalgunj, Bardiya, Dang, Butwal, and Kapilvastu.

The operator of the Adventure Resort, Sunil Singh Baniya, shared that tickets for bungee jumping and zipline have been booked a week in advance. He noted that while Fridays and Saturdays typically see the most visitors, the extended Dashain holiday has led to even larger crowds.

Raju Karki, the operator of The Cliff, stated that this year has seen a significant increase in international tourists. Over 100 people participate in activities such as bungee jumping and swing rides daily, with a similar number engaging in other adventure activities like ping, rock climbing, and cycling.

This influx of tourists has not only boosted the local economy but also highlighted Kusma’s growing appeal as a key destination for adventure tourism in Nepal.
