Ashish Sigdel, a 27-year-old resident of Bhimad Municipality-2 in Tanahun district, tragically lost his life due to altitude sickness in Dandakharka, located in Ward No. 2 of Makalu Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Daksha Kumar Basnet of the District Police Office, the incident occurred on Saturday morning while Sigdel was trekking towards Makalu Base Camp. It is believed that he developed symptoms of altitude sickness at an elevation of approximately 4,200 meters.

The high-altitude conditions in the mountainous terrain, combined with the physical stress of the trek, likely led to his untimely death. Preparations are currently underway to transport his body to the district hospital for a postmortem examination.

However, due to the remote and geographically challenging location of the incident, police have stated that the body will not arrive in Khandbari until Sunday. This delay highlights the difficulties in conducting rescue or recovery operations in such isolated Himalayan regions.
