Turkish Airlines, renowned for its extensive global network, is set to expand its reach with the addition of Sydney, Australia’s largest city, to its flight roster. Beginning December 4, 2024, Turkish Airlines will offer non-stop flights between Istanbul and Sydney, marking a significant milestone for the airline as it strengthens its presence on the Australian continent.
This new route, operated four times a week with Airbus A350-900 aircraft, will initially include a stopover in Kuala Lumpur. The introduction of direct flights to Sydney will make it the first Australian city to be served non-stop by Turkish Airlines in the future.
Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat, expressed enthusiasm about the new route: “We are excited to announce the launch of our Sydney route, marking a new chapter for us in Australia. This addition not only enhances our flight network but also reaffirms our commitment to providing our passengers with new opportunities and experiences. Sydney will soon be our first Australian destination to feature non-stop flights once we receive the appropriate aircraft.”
John Graham, Minister for Jobs and Tourism, highlighted the significance of the new service: “Turkish Airlines’ arrival in Sydney represents a major step forward for European travelers seeking direct access to our world-class attractions. The NSW Government has collaborated closely with Sydney Airport and Turkish Airlines to establish this new service, which is poised to drive growth in the state’s tourism sector.”
Sydney Airport CEO, Scott Charlton, welcomed the new route as a crucial development for international travel: “The introduction of direct flights is a milestone for travel between Europe and Australia, offering passengers seamless access to Turkish Airlines’ extensive network from Istanbul. We are proud to host Turkish Airlines’ first non-stop service to Sydney, which is a testament to our city’s and state’s appeal. Passengers can look forward to experiencing Turkish Airlines’ award-winning service from Sydney to Istanbul via Kuala Lumpur starting December 2024.”
In celebration of the new route, Turkish Airlines is offering special launch prices for flights between Sydney and Istanbul. Tickets for Sydney to Istanbul are priced at AUD 1489, while Istanbul to Sydney tickets are available for USD 999. These launch prices are valid for bookings made from September 12 to December 31, 2024, with travel dates from December 4, 2024, to May 31, 2025.
