Two flights bound for Biratnagar had to return to Kathmandu after failing to land at Biratnagar Airport due to adverse weather conditions. Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines, which were carrying passengers from Kathmandu to Biratnagar, were both redirected back to Kathmandu.
Subash Jha, Chief of Biratnagar Airport, stated that the flights were unable to land due to poor weather conditions, forcing them to return mid-flight. Both planes safely landed at Kathmandu Airport after the return.
So far, only two flights to Biratnagar have taken off today—those operated by Buddha Air and Shree Airlines. According to Jha, after landing in Biratnagar, these flights dropped off passengers and then returned to Kathmandu with new passengers. Normally, 6-7 flights are expected to operate between Kathmandu and Biratnagar by 12:30 PM.
Jha further explained that only two flights have managed to operate due to challenging weather conditions along the flight route. He said, “The in-route weather is causing problems for the flights,” adding that continuous rainfall and poor visibility are creating difficulties for smooth flight operations.
