Tyamkemaiyum Rural Municipality is focusing on the integrated development of the Mundum Trail by leveraging its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. The municipality aims to promote the trail as a unique tourist destination, highlighting the region’s biodiversity, scenic landscapes, and the indigenous traditions of the Kirat Rai community.

According to Saroj Basnet, the development of the Mundum Trail emphasizes the preservation of both culture and nature. The municipality has adopted policies to promote eco-friendly tourism while safeguarding the area’s biological diversity and cultural heritage. “Tourism is impossible without conserving nature,” Chairperson Basnet stated. “That is why we have prioritized the protection and promotion of cultural practices alongside environmental conservation.”

The Mundum Trail offers visitors an opportunity to explore the customs, rituals, and heritage of the Kirat Rai community.
