Flights at Resunga Airport in Gulmi have been repeatedly disrupted due to adverse weather conditions. Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), which has been operating only three flights per week since the first week of Falgun, reported that heavy fog over the past few days has made regular flight operations impossible.
Suman Thapa, Station Manager at Resunga Airport, informed that continuous dense fog over the past week led to the cancellation of flights last Sunday and Tuesday. The persistent poor visibility has severely affected the airport’s ability to maintain its scheduled flights, causing inconvenience to passengers and residents.

Limited Weekly Flights and Aircraft Availability in Resunga Airport
Following adjustments to the flight schedule, Resunga Airport now accommodates only three flights per week, on Sunday, Tuesday, and Saturday. Nepal Airlines currently operates with only three Twin Otter aircraft, which require periodic maintenance. This limited fleet has compelled the corporation to revise flight schedules to ensure safety and operational efficiency.

The station manager emphasized that while the airport is fully operational, weather remains the key factor affecting flight regularity. Dense fog in the region often reduces visibility, making takeoffs and landings challenging for pilots.

Ticket Fares and Travel Details
Passengers traveling from Kathmandu to Gulmi currently pay a fare of NPR 7,500, while return trips from Gulmi to Kathmandu are priced at NPR 7,300. The airline has urged travelers to check flight schedules in advance and make necessary arrangements due to the limited weekly flights.
Authorities continue to monitor weather conditions closely and adjust flight operations to prioritize passenger safety. Despite the challenges, Nepal Airlines remains committed to providing consistent air service to the remote district, which plays a vital role in improving connectivity and supporting local tourism and commerce. With the winter fog gradually expected to clear in the coming weeks, officials hope that flight operations will return to normal frequency, easing travel for residents and visitors to Gulmi.
