Upgrades Underway: Manakamana Cable Car Service Suspended for 50 Days

The Manakamana Cable Car service will be temporarily suspended for 50 days starting today to facilitate extensive upgrades aimed at improving its digital infrastructure.

Ujjwal Shrestha, Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan Private Limited, announced that these upgrades will include advanced digital systems and the replacement of the main cable ropes, which have been in service for 26 years.

The new cable ropes, sourced from Dopplemayr, an esteemed technical firm based in Austria, are expected to greatly enhance operational efficiency throughout the cable car’s journey.

Despite the suspension of the cable car service, the restaurant located at the entrance gate (Bottom Station) in Ichhakamana-4 Kurintar, Chitwan, will remain open without interruption. This continued service ensures that pilgrims visiting the sacred Manakamana Temple in Gorakha since Mangsir 8, 2055 BS, will have uninterrupted access to essential facilities during this period.
