Upgrading of Road to Purundhara Waterfall in Dang Begins

The road leading to the popular tourist destination, Purundhara Waterfall, in Dang, is now undergoing significant upgrades. The project aims to enhance accessibility and boost tourism in the area. Engineer Rajesh Devkota from the Infrastructure Branch of Babai Rural Municipality provided detailed insights into the initiative.

Devkota revealed that the road improvement and blacktopping work are being carried out with an estimated budget of approximately NPR 6,651,85. The blacktopping work focuses on a roughly 900-meter stretch of road connecting Gangte in Babai Rural Municipality-5 to the Purundhara Waterfall tourist center. This crucial upgrade is expected to make the waterfall more accessible to visitors, particularly during the monsoon season.

The project is a collaborative effort between the federal and local governments, with each contributing 50% of the total cost. This joint funding underscores the importance of the initiative for both local infrastructure and tourism development.

Resident Deepak Shah highlighted the impact of the road conditions on tourist visits. “In the past, tourists didn’t visit during the rainy season because the road was in bad condition,” Shah said. “But now, with the road improvements, we see around 100 domestic tourists visiting daily, even during the monsoon.”

The upgrade is expected to significantly increase tourist activities in the area, making Purundhara Waterfall a more attractive destination for both domestic and international visitors. The improved road infrastructure not only enhances the travel experience but also promises economic benefits for the local community by drawing more visitors to the region.
