The Auliya Baba Temple, a historic site located in Chhatra Dham, Baraahkshetra Municipality-1, is in urgent need of restoration. The temple, which is over 260 years old, has seen significant wear and tear, with its structures including the main shrine and various idols showing signs of severe deterioration.
Mahant Vinayak Puri has emphasized the critical need for immediate repairs to the temple, highlighting that both the shrine’s internal and external structures, including the idol of Auliya Baba, are in a dilapidated state. He stressed that the preservation of such religious and archaeological heritage is a responsibility that falls on all members of society.
According to Mahant Puri, a formal request for restoration has been submitted to the Guthi Sansthan. The restoration work must address several key elements, including the gold-plated Shivling, the gold-plated snake on the Shivling, the gold-plated Panchmukhi Shivling, the marble statue of Auliya Baba, the stone statue of Ashtabhuja Bhairav, and the temple’s main shrine.
He also noted that religious scriptures prohibit the worship of damaged idols, which underscores the urgency of restoring these sacred structures to their original condition.
