The journey initiated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to showcase its contributions and initiatives for Nepal’s prosperity concluded today in Kathmandu.
The final events of the journey took place at Jawalakhel at 9 AM and Bhrikuti Mandap at 3 PM. These events featured performances by artists like Rajan Raj Shiwakoti and Rima Bishwokarma, along with various games and entertainment activities, according to USAID.
The journey, which began in Lumbini Province, aimed to inform the public about various programs supported by USAID. It commenced in Banganga, Kapilvastu, and passed through Butwal, Lamahi in Dang, Kohalpur, and Nepalgunj.
USAID has been operating numerous national and local projects in health, education, economic growth, environment, democracy, rights, and good governance. However, this journey marked the first initiative to disseminate information about these efforts.
The diplomatic relationship between the United States and Nepal has spanned nearly eight decades. For over 63 years, USAID has partnered with Nepal in health, education, economic development, agriculture, and disaster risk reduction. The grants provided by the American people have significantly contributed to Nepal’s prosperity.
In 2023 alone, USAID’s health, education, and economic growth programs directly impacted the lives of over one million women and indirectly benefited 5 million women through various initiatives.
Since 2000, USAID has provided over NPR 196 billion in assistance for Nepal’s development across sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, economic growth, women and children’s empowerment, humanitarian aid, good governance, environment, civil society, communication, and business development.
