The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) successfully concluded its third journey aimed at highlighting contributions to Nepal’s prosperity in Lamahi, Dang. The event, held today at the Lamahi bus park, featured various cultural performances and saw active participation from residents. This journey, which began in Banganga, Kapilvastu, made its way to Lamahi via Butwal to inform about the various programs supported by USAID in Lumbini Province. According to USAID, similar events are scheduled for Monday in Kohalpur, Banke, and Tuesday in Nepalgunj.
USAID has been operating numerous national and local projects in the fields of health, education, economic growth, environment, democracy, rights, and good governance. The diplomatic relationship between the United States and Nepal has spanned nearly eight decades, with USAID partnering in Nepal’s health, education, economic development, agriculture, and disaster mitigation sectors for over 63 years. Grants from the American people have significantly contributed to Nepal’s prosperity.
In 2023 alone, USAID’s programs in health, education, and economic growth have directly impacted the lives of over one million women, with nearly five million women benefiting indirectly through various initiatives.
Since 2000, USAID has provided more than NPR 196 billion for Nepal’s development across diverse sectors including health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, economic growth, women and girls’ empowerment, humanitarian assistance, good governance, environment, civil society, and business development.
