On the occasion of the 45th World Tourism Day, several institutions and individuals were recognized for their contributions to the tourism sector in Nepal. In an event organized today, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation presented certificates of appreciation to those who have made significant contributions in various areas of tourism.
Among the honored institutions were Nepal Airlines, Himalayan Encounter Pvt. Ltd., Sita World Travel Pvt. Ltd., Everest Hospitality and Hotel, Himalayan Sky Drive Pvt. Ltd., the U.S. Embassy, and Sintamani Resort Mustang.
Additionally, posthumous honors were awarded to Shyam Bahadur Pande and Ambika Shrestha for their invaluable contributions to the tourism industry.
Other honorees included Binayak Shah, President of Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), Shiva Adhikari, President of Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), and record-holding climbers Nima Rinji Sherpa, Phunjo Jhambo Lama, Purnima Shrestha, Rescue Chirring Pandey Bhote, Angtasi Sherpa, Captain Bivek Khadka, Rabindra Man Singh Pradhan, Si Chui, Saroj Bhatia, Phurba Sherpa, Neem Bahadur Magar, and Min Bahadur Bham. Buddha Air and Pre-Prahara Community Homestay in Nawalparasi were also honored, along with journalist Phurba Sherpa.
The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) also recognized five companies for selling the highest number of TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) cards. The honored companies included Royal Mountain Pvt. Ltd., Raika Tours and Treks, International Trekkers, Three Sisters Adventure, and Divine International.
In addition, the Village Tourism Promotion Forum Nepal declared three homestays as “Village Tourism Villages of the Year.” These were Sabhapokhari Community Homestay in Tribeni Bazar, Sabhapokhari Rural Municipality-3, Sankhuwasabha; Chailing Community Homestay in Chailing Village, Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-8, Dhading; and Timure Community Homestay in Chandrakot Rural Municipality-4, Gulmi.
Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh distributed the awards and honors to the recipients during the ceremony.
