Shova Taal in Belauri Municipality-5, Kanchanpur district, has introduced water boats to promote tourism and attract more visitors. This initiative, supported by a conditional grant from the federal government, aims to draw both internal and external tourists to the picturesque lake.
Deputy Mayor Jogaram Chaudhary announced that five water boats are now operational on Shova Taal. The area, encompassing eight hectares, includes five lakes, with Shova Taal being a focal point for tourism development.
To further enhance the appeal of Shova Taal, the local municipality is undertaking several beautification projects. A statue of Lord Buddha is being installed, and a fishery is being developed in two of the lakes. Additionally, a swimming pool has been constructed for tourists’ enjoyment.
Over Rs 250 million has already been invested in the development of infrastructure around Shova Taal. Deputy Mayor Chaudhary detailed the various amenities, including a selfie area with a large wing, a conference hall, a guest house, resting places, footpaths, and a theatre for hosting events.
“Tourists can visit the Shova Taal area free of charge,” Chaudhary stated. “However, there is a nominal fee for boating.”
To ensure the safety and security of visitors, the local municipality is considering the deployment of security personnel to the tourist area.
These efforts are expected to significantly boost tourism in Kanchanpur, making Shova Taal a prime destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.
