The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a weather bulletin indicating that the impacts of monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country. The monsoon’s low-pressure line is situated in its average position in the west and around the average location in the south and east.
The forecast predicts partly to generally cloudy conditions throughout the country. Light rain with thunder and lightning is expected in one or two locations within Koshi and Lumbini provinces. This afternoon, light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely in several areas across all seven provinces.
The hilly regions of Koshi Province may experience heavy rainfall in one or two locations, with partly to generally cloudy skies expected in the hilly areas in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces tonight. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also anticipated in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces, and in isolated spots across the other provinces.
Given the potential for heavy rainfall, the Department has urged the public to exercise caution to mitigate the risks of floods, landslides, and soil erosion, particularly in the hilly areas of Koshi Province. Authorities have also been requested to take necessary precautions as the weather conditions may partially impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and both road and air transport in the affected regions.
