Weather Clears Up, Trekking in Nepal Now Safe: TAAN Issues Update

The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has issued an update assuring trekkers that weather conditions in Nepal have significantly improved, making it safe to resume trekking activities. The advisory comes after a period of unfavorable weather, which included heavy rainfall and landslides from September 27 to 30, 2024.

According to TAAN, the adverse weather had affected several trekking regions across Nepal, particularly with continuous downpours and landslides causing disruptions to trekking routes and transportation. Even after the heavy rain stopped on September 30, some regions, including eastern and central Nepal, experienced light rainfall and cloudy conditions, especially in the Lukla area on October 2 and 3, leading to flight delays.

However, as of October 6, TAAN confirms that the weather has cleared up across the country. “The weather condition is now excellent with sunny days and crystal-clear views of the Himalayas,” TAAN stated. These clear skies provide an ideal environment for trekkers who are eager to explore Nepal’s iconic trails, including Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, and Langtang Valley.

Despite some possible congestion in air and road transportation due to the brief backlog, TAAN emphasized that trekkers should not be concerned about their safety or security. The association encouraged tourists to proceed with their plans but advised them to coordinate closely with their Nepal-based trekking agencies to adjust flight schedules, road transportation, and trekking itineraries as needed.

TAAN’s advisory urges trekkers not to cancel their trips, reassuring them that all safety protocols are in place. It has become vital for trekkers to stay in touch with their tour operators to ensure smooth travel and optimal trekking experiences amid any minor logistical delays.

With the skies clear and the majestic mountains fully visible, this is a prime time for trekking in Nepal. The association reassures all adventurers that the country’s trails are safe, and the current conditions offer the best possible trekking experience.
