Weather Update: Monsoon Influences Persist Across Nepal

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has reported that the monsoon trough remains situated south of its average position, keeping the monsoon winds active across Nepal. Additionally, a low-pressure system that has developed in the Bay of Bengal is also partially affecting the weather, leading to cloudy conditions across most parts of the country.

At present, the country is experiencing partial to generally cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy throughout the day. There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, in several locations across all provinces. Moreover, heavy rainfall is predicted at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Additionally, parts of the Terai region in Koshi and Madhesh provinces may experience strong winds.

Tonight, partial to generally cloudy conditions are anticipated across the country. Similar to the daytime, some areas in all provinces may see light to moderate rain, with a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Strong winds may also affect parts of the Terai region in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Madhesh provinces.

Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in several locations across all provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has also warned of the potential for heavy rainfall in one or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, urging residents in these areas to remain vigilant.

The public is advised to stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to heavy rain and strong winds.
