Weather Update: Partial Monsoon Influence to Continue Across Nepal

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has indicated that the monsoon winds remain active across Nepal, with a partial influence of a low-pressure system centered near northeastern Madhya Pradesh and southern Uttar Pradesh in India. This weather system continues to bring a possibility of rainfall in various regions of the country.

According to the forecast, the monsoon trough is positioned slightly north of its average location towards the west and slightly south of its average position in the east. As a result, hilly areas of Nepal are expected to experience partial to generally cloudy conditions, while other regions will have partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

Meteorologist Sudershan Humagain stated that although there is a mild monsoon influence today, the likelihood of rain increases tomorrow. “There is no significant chance of rainfall today, but light to moderate rain is expected in some parts of the Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces on Friday,” Humagain said. The maximum temperature in Kathmandu is expected to reach 31°C, with the possibility of light showers in the valley.

Today’s weather bulletin predicts partial to general cloud cover over the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, with scattered light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in some locations. Isolated places in other hilly regions may also experience light to moderate rainfall.

During the night, most hilly regions in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces will see partial cloud cover, with clear skies expected elsewhere. Light to moderate rain is possible in one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati.

This weather forecast suggests that while monsoon conditions are gradually easing, there will still be isolated showers in some regions over the next 24 hours.
