Weather Update: Powerful Westerly Winds and Moist Air Trigger Rain and Snowfall in Nepal

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has reported that the current weather pattern across Nepal is being influenced by both westerly and local winds. Additionally, the entry of moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal has contributed to increased cloud formation and precipitation in several regions of the country.

According to the latest weather bulletin, Nepal is experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions throughout the day, with varying intensities of rainfall expected in specific areas. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some locations in the hilly regions of Koshi and adjoining provinces.

Furthermore, the mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may also witness similar weather activities, with possibilities of brief but intense rainfall and thunderstorms.

The Division also forecasted that the evening and nighttime weather will remain partly to generally cloudy, particularly in the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Light rain, thunder, and lightning may occur at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

In higher elevations, light snowfall has also been predicted at isolated places in the mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has advised the public, especially those in hilly and mountainous areas, to remain cautious of possible weather-related disruptions such as localized flooding, slippery roads, and reduced visibility.

Travelers and trekkers planning to visit the higher altitudes are urged to check weather updates regularly and take necessary precautions as light snowfall could affect trail conditions.
