Weekend Holidays Boost Visitor Flow at Central Zoo in Jawalakhel

The Central Zoo located in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, has witnessed a significant increase in domestic tourist arrivals following the implementation of a two-day weekly public holiday system on Saturdays and Sundays. According to zoo authorities, visitor activity has notably increased during weekends, making the zoo one of the most popular short-distance recreational destinations for families and school groups in the Kathmandu Valley.

Weekend Crowd Far Exceeds Weekday Numbers at Central Zoo

Central Zoo administration data shows a clear difference between weekday and weekend footfall. On regular working days, the zoo receives around 1,700 to 1,800 visitors daily. However, on Saturdays, the number rises sharply to between 5,000 and 7,000 visitors, while Sundays record around 3,500 to 5,000 visitors. Officials say this growing trend reflects changing leisure patterns among urban residents, with weekends becoming the primary time for family outings and recreational visits.
